Prayer to the Dark Mother
Mother, sweet Mother
I call out to thee, here in the heart
of the wilds
Mother, sweet Mother,
please hearken to me
Your daughter invokes your protection
Hide me dark Mother,
for night is thy cloak
all woven with starlight and moonbeams
Shelter me Mother
’neath strong boughs of oak
the leaves whisper soft in the hollow
Comfort me Mother
and clothe me in mail
So tears fall as cold as the river
Arm me strong Mother
with sharp tooth and nail
and cunning to match fearsome beasts
Mother, sweet Mother
I call out to thee, here in the dark
of the wilds
Mother, sweet Mother,
please hearken to me
Your daughter invokes your protection
